I started taking lessons from Dave Babich in March of 2002. Primarily
singing in louder, aggressive bands, I was searching for a way to prepare my
voice for live shows and recording. Originally I had only planned on taking
a few lessons, maybe learning some warm-up exercises and breathing skills.
And although I still use the exercises Dave taught me in just the first
couple lessons, I found myself going back every week and have so for over a
year now. Working with Dave made my voice sound better than I thought it
ever could and I'm constantly discovering new break-throughs. My range has
expanded, I don't have to think about singing so much anymore; it comes more
naturally. Vocals used to be a chore, but now I look forward to it as much
as I do playing the guitar. I'd highly recommend Dave for anyone looking to
learn about or improve their voice in anyway. He knows what he's talking
about, is flexible, and is an all-around nice guy.

After hearing some criticism from some friends on a demo CD I had recorded, I
set out to do something about it. I stumbled onto David's ad and tried him out.
At first I was skeptical. I thought to myself, "Could I really learn to sing...
I can't even carry a note..." And why I attempted to record a demo CD is another
story in itself. Well after the first few lessons I was suprised. My band members
told me my voice was much better. It's not magic and there are no tricks to singing.
It's all about practice and David helped guide me to where I am today. He has a plethora
of methods that helps hone in on what I was trying to accomplish. My vocal range has
grown, not only that, I could now find the notes I needed to reach.

Before I started studying with David, I was embarrassed to let anybody hear
me sing. After less than a year, I feel like I know and understand my voice
and I'm no longer scared to show the world that I have one!

I'm not afraid to admit that I drive all the way from the hills of Marin to
Davidıs warehouse space in S.F. He has made me feel very comfortable with my
voice and how I use it. I appreciate his influences and how he uses many
techniques to develop his own style. Within 6 months I have already
discovered major improvements in my technique, my voice is stronger and
easier to use than ever before. Not only is his teaching effective,
but as a person he's incredibly supportive and fun to work with. I have
faith that he will go far with his many talents and his ability to
communicate them to others.

I have taken David Babich's musician's performance workshops and am
impressed with the relaxed and organized manner in which he conducts them.
I've received useful, practical feedback from David and other students
attending. Also, the workshops helped give me more confidence and relieved
me of some pre-performance anxiety. The workshops are also fun and engaging.
I strongly recommend his workshops to others interested in developing their
performance skills!

When I came to David I was very uncomfortable with my voice. I was totally
fearful of singing in front of other and even myself. I had very little
training as a singer, accept for the grade school choir and guitar lessons
in high school, and virtually no confidence. David carefully brought me out
of my shell and taught me to be comfortable with my own voice. I learned so
much from David, his teaching style is adaptable to any and all styles and
levels and he gives you the tool and the encouragement you need to reach you
own goals. He not only taught me to sign but also helped me learn to read
music and understand music theory better. You need to take a class with
him....He's the best!
